LILIES

Asiatics
The Asiatic lilies make up the majority of the lilies. They come from a number
of the lilies found growing in Asia. They are quite easy to grow and come in a large variety
of dramatic colors.

Orientals
Orientals are the queen of the lilies, both in size and fragrance, available
in many attractive colors. In zones 3-4, Orientals should be planted in the spring and
covered during early fall frosts. This will help extend the bulb maturity. The soil should
have a ph level of 6 to 7.

Trumpets can be grown successfully in this area (zone 3) but usually need
some extra protection. Spring planting may help them settle in and winter through
in the colder climate zones. Mulching in the Fall is also highly recommended. This extra
care is well rewarded by these beautiful, fragrant flowers.
